
In America, children are bombarded with unhealthy food ads on their television screens and social media, so much so that it has led to an obesity crisis and chronic health issues. As a first-time Mom, I am mindful of all the persuasion that my daughter sees on nursery rhymes and children's television shows. Some characters are compulsive cookie eaters, and some songs praise eating ice cream, muffins, and pizza. Many parents say, "They are kids; they deserve to have the same things we had when we were kids."
Many of the people in my generation who grew up with this food advertising are dealing with being obese, have hypertension, diabetes, cancer, and elevated cholesterol. We as a society can and should do more to improve our and our children's lives.
The food and pharmaceutical industries are profiting off of our sickness. Let me explain. Practice eating Anti-inflammatory foods or a Mediterranean diet.
Make a goal to remove all junk foods from your home and only bring a small amount in during the holidays or celebration times.
Shift your mindset that junk foods are sometimes foods, not everyday food.
