Mindfulness and Our Control

As human beings, we may encounter situations beyond our control, causing us to feel emotions like anger, sadness, and anxiety. Some examples of such situations are being judged by others, experiencing traumatic events, and losing a loved one. When we fixate on things beyond our control, we increase our stress level, which can result in a poorer quality of life.

The objective of living a happy and balanced life is to identify what you can control. This means acknowledging those aspects of your life that are within your power to change, improve, or influence and accepting those that are not. You will feel more empowered through this stressful life when you realize what is in your control. For instance, you can control your attitude, actions, and decisions.

On the other hand, you cannot control external factors such as the weather, other people's opinions, or the actions of others. Once you recognize the difference between what is in your control and what is not, you can focus your energy on what you can change rather than worrying about what you cannot.

You can develop a positive outlook on life by engaging in mindfulness practice for greater self-awareness, adopting an optimistic mindset, and incorporating breath work to improve mental focus. These simple yet effective techniques can help you take control of your thoughts and emotions and lead to a happier and more fulfilling existence.
